Minutes May 3rd, 2006
The May meeting of the Central Maryland chapter of PFLAG was called to order at 7pm by president, Lois Jarman.
Lois introduced guest speaker, Frederick City Alderman, David “Kip” Koontz.  Mr. Koontz spoke briefly about his
experiences in running for political office and his current experiences as a Frederick City alderman.  He referenced
his perseverance and his community activities.  Mr. Koontz apologized to the group for his brief comments, but
explained that he need to be in attendance at a city alderman meeting that had been recently called for that evening.
He promised to return and to be able to allow for questions and answers.

The regular business of the meeting was then discussed.  Lois brought up a recent letter to the editor of the
Frederick News Post that referenced in a derogatory way PFLAG and its mission.  It was decided by the group that a
thank you letter to Alderman Koontz would be sent to the FNP with the inclusion of the PFLAG national mission.
There would be no reference in this letter to the derogatory one.  Lois will draft and submit the letter.

Future meeting topics were also discussed with the following decisions made:
June 7: poster making and preparation for Baltimore Pride Day
June 17:  Baltimore Pride Day
July:  NO MEETING
August:  The Reverend Michael Hayes of the Hagerstown Metropolitan Community
Church will speak on the history of marriage.
September:  Representatives from area college and high school GLBT groups will be

help them achieve these goals.

Jaye presented PFLAG business cards she had created.  Tiffany will make the template available on the website.
The meeting adjourned at 8:15pm.  There were 22 people in attendance.
